Evaluation Question 4
Feedback is very essential when creating a product for a
target audience. In this video you will
see the feedback I got from the very first rough cut. The feedback we got was
that we needed structure in our music video, not enough shot types, shakey movement
with the camera didn’t suit our genre and music. So from this feedback we decided
to go and re-shoot more scenes in different shot types and in different times,
so our video can have a chronological order for example day scenes into night
scenes. So listening to feedback at this point of the process was very crucial because
we can still had the time to make loads of amendments.
This next video shows a little documentary of the
cinema-screening day. At the end of the movie you can see how the audience
reacted also the feedback. The audience reacted in a very good way, which was
very surprising, this means that we actually listened to our feedback and it
was joy for the audience to watch. The feedback received was positive,
especially when the audience said our locations, editing skills were good, also
the choice of artists and the song. However, the video wasn’t perfect. If I
could make any amendments in this moment, I will make improvements with the
framing issue in some scenes, but at the end of the day our audience liked the
music video and I listened to the feedback that was given to me during the
process of making the music video.

first attempt making website
Here's is me setting up the social links for my website that I was planning to make, this was also my first attempt making the website; I however didn't use this because I went to a tutorial during workshop to help me develop a better and more professional looking website that fits the codes and conventions of a typical grime artists music video.
HAND SKETCHES OF DRAFT DIGIPAK
Following some audience feeback, I found that they didn't like the name over the hole because it was distracting and didn't look clean lined.
Functions of a music video (info)
What is a music video?
A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery.
Different types of music videos
Performance based: this is a music video that doesn't relate to the lyrics but is actually a way that the artist has chosen to portray the music to the audience.
Narrative based: a music video that related to the actual lyrics of the song, a largely recognised example of this is Adeles Skyfall video, which contained some parts of the James Bond movie Skyfall.
Conceptual based: this is a music video based on one theme, for example, Ariana Grandes music video for "Break Free"is based around a theme of space and out of earth imagery.
A music video has the following functions:
- to engage the audience and ensure that they are part of the journey that the artist is going through, and almost become apart of the artists life.
- the practical function of actually selling the music, in the hope that if the audience enjoys the music they are more likely to enjoy the music and therefore buy it from iTunes or similar agencies.
- they portray the singing artist as actually a performer, that means the audience is able to relate with the artist on another level that motivates them to continue along the artists journey.
- the video gives the music that is produced another platform to be played on rather then live performance or a music file.

EVALUATION QUESTION 4
Audience feedback is important for a number of reasons:
- to ensure that the artist is up to date and understands what the audience wants from them
- to respond to the feedback they receive
- to compete for followers with other artists
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR FEEDBACK CLIPS FROM THE SCREENING:
Question 3 - Camtasia's for technology used
Social Media Networks
Using Photoshop to manipulate photos

Using Premiere Pro

Disclaimer:
This is not my actual Digipak that I've made; the pictures used is not the same I've used for my own one.
Digital mock up of digipak
This a digital mock up of how i want my digipak to look like. I will manipulate photo's to put the two artists together, so the audience can recognise them. Also i will be following the synergy of the costumes and colour scheme which is Monochrome. All the writing and fonts will be in monochrome.
Digital mockup of website
This is a digital mock up of my website, I will make some adjustments when making this website online, by adding the official mp3 and official video. But this is how I would like my website to look, as it follows the conventions of grime artists website that I have researched.

Final Ancillary - Digipak/Ancillary
This is my final digipak outlook. I used photoshop to design, blend, cut and shape. It was a hassle at first and I got frustrated however it developed my creativity skills and technology usage. I followed the synergy as we wanted to capture the monochrome in all our media products.
Also the website links aswell with the repeated colour scheme and as our genre websites normally don't have I decided to follow that convention but also challenge it at the same time as I've added a gallery and a tour date section.
Digipak Ancillary
This is my finished digipak:
REFLECTION:
I think the process of making the digipak is going good. I'm actually delighted with the inside cover because I had difficulties deciding what to put in there and still make it look just like typical grime artists digipak.
When I first started making the digipak I had problems with the sizings of the images for example I overstretched the images insteading of using the actual size it was importing in.
I was told that I had too much head space on the front of the cover so I enlarged the artists' names to cover up the gap and also increase the size of the album name 'Dilemma'
ANALYSIS OF MY DIGIPAK:

Task 53 - Photos for digipak
These are the photo's i wish to use on my digipak for our artists. I chose these pictures because i can manipulate them in so many ways which will make it look like a professional digipak. Furthermore these are really good shots from our artists.
Task 54 - Overview of costume
Here is the costumes our artists will be wearing in the photoshoot. This follows our colour scheme which you see in bits in our music video. Also the colour black is mostly used in digipaks and photos for many grime artists. (Costume on the last slide)

HAND SKETCHES OF INITIAL IDEAS FOR DIGIPAK (1)
Used a pencil and felt tip pen to make it thicker.
The main idea behind this is simplicity and minimalist, not exactly the codes and conventions of grime genre, however it is the style I want to follow because it just makes it easier to follow our monochrome synergy
Ancillary progress - website
I started my website using Wix for our artists 'MELZ X JOEZ'. I chose a layout which was simple which will follow the convention of our genre and also complement our colour scheme.
I decided to stick to a simple bold thick font for the title of the homepage and use black social icons to go with the colour scheme, monochrome. I decided that i would like everything to be on the homepage to keep it simple and to have easy access. The video 'Want from Me' can be watched on the homepage also the mp3 format of the song as well. Then i decided i will add an album of our artists bloopers during the photoshoot to give the audience a calm informal feeling. However, i will make some changes because at the moment i don't really like the layout of things and how it looks in general, but i got some feedback from my teacher and some students saying its perfectly fine.
