RISK ASSESSMENT UPDATED FROM THE PITCH

Risk
Prevention

After incident protocol

Dropping the camera of millennium bridge

Make sure that the camera is   secure on the tripod/ fig rig
Ensure that the filming is carried out with two people, one person making sure that there is no member of the public that is at risk, or increasing the risk of the camera dropping

If the camera or any equipment does fall off the bridge, we need to notify college immediately via phone and then follow the technicians instructions carefully

Being hurt/robbed/in life threatening danger

Make sure that the equipment is escorted from an outside location carefully, especially being careful in the dark not to go down quite roads or be loud and boastful about having any equipment.
When possible making sure that the equipment is carried by more then one person to

Call the relevant emergency authority, make sure the persons parent or carer is informed of the incident, and then make sure the college is notified about the injury.

If the equipment is stolen and no person is harmed, then we need to call the technician and follow the instructions he gives us.

Making sure the camera is safe from the wind/rain

Check the weather prior to filming and ensure that there is going to be clear skies and no rain.

If the weather updates are showing nothing clear but it isn’t raining at the current moment, set out but use an umbrella.

If raining heavily and BBC weather updates don’t show a break to better weather cancel filming and adjust the schedule.

If camera does get wet, remove the SD card while it is still functional, then shut the camera down and ring the technician, follow instructions.

Getting ill/cold

Because the filming is going to be done during the winter, we need to make sure that the costumes match the genre and conventions, but we need to be dressed appropriately for the wet and cold weather to ensure that there is no member of the group unable to film.

If anyone does fall ill then they need to inform the group via “watsapp group chat” to ensure that we can either film with out them or cancel filming and arrange another time.
Take the necessary medical steps such as visiting the doctor or A&E if the situation is bad. Notify the teachers that you’re going to be absent.

My time filming the music video

This is a presentation of our filming days and how it went; including the good parts and the not so good things. I kept adding/updating to this presentation as I thought it would be more entertaining watching our filming sessions all in one slide plus it'll be more easier to read as well.

Reflection on progress.

So far in the blogging process, I would like to be honest enough to argue that actually I haven't improved since last year with my bogging.

Although I do understand that blogging is a key component in the course work. I inefficiently manage my time, don't reflect on feed back regularly and don't add detail in places where it is deemed relevant.

To improve and get my blog to the standards set, I need to:

- Focus on relevant tasks, that are pertinent to the activity that we are doing. Such as filming, editing or evaluating work.

- Need to improve my time management in order to make sure that I'm doing as much as I possible can in the time that it provided

- Start to incorporate more use of technology, such as Prezi, Emaze, and video files via YouTube.

I hope to implement these improvements before the music video deadline.

UPDATE ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS.

We are trying our hardest to make the video mirror a real products campaign. Here are some of our latest posts and the reason that we posted them.

I regularly enjoy taking pictures with my group, and want to convey a group effort in our work. I also want the audience to understand that hard work we all put in to make sure the work is really good. This was found when I researched existing products and artists, this may be because it's a practical easy way to credit people that are involved in the production process through a picture and 'tagging' options. This ensures that everyone gets the publicity that they deserve equally.

I found that it has become a large part of grime culture for the artist to become a large part of the post production work such as editing, this is because they want a sense of ownership with their music. We wanted the audience to be able to see the work that all of us were doing to make this product and be able to relate with us, as most of the audience are engaged in something creative. However, this proved to be more practical in terms of the course work, our teachers are able to track the progress and give feedback.

Questionnaire feed back.

Here are the responses from our research and my findings into a video.

(need a flip cam to record the video, rest of the blog will be completed at college week beginning 30TH NOVEMBER)

Analysis into target audience of Grime genre.

To ensure that I understood the target audience, I made a questionnaire to find out the most I could so I was meeting the requirements, and had the most coverage amongst the entire audience.

Here are some of the questions that I added and an explanation in RED to analyse why I asked it specifically.

1. What activities do you enjoy participating in?
- to get an understanding of the types of hobbies or interests that they have, to make sure that we are relating to the audience, so they continue to listen to our music.

2. What is your ethnicity?
- this may lead us to understand the political stance that they may have, to make sure that we dont go against that and end up loosing audience members because of something we make social
- To understand the ethnicities of people that listen to our music, including that of other grime artists.

3. What brands do you like to wear?
- so we can add some of these to our costume during production and planning stages, and include relevant objects in our campaigns

4. What social media do you use?
- all of our campaign is digital, we have to make sure that we are reaching everyone and are releasing content or engaging with our audience to the extent that we can. Examples such as Instagram&Twitter.

5. What technology do you use?
- might be able to integrate our campaign with the technology that is most used for example we might be able to partner with samsung for an event.

*BEHIND THE SCENES #MELZXJOEZ*

Melz (Diary)

Filming at Granary Square 27/11/15

Due to our feedback from fellow peers and teachers. Our rough cut was overall a good piece however an issue that was repeated from most was that we had shots cutting in between night and day. Therefore we were advised to have the day shots first then have the night shots. We didn't have enough footage for the day shots so we had to go out filming. We decided to film at Kings Cross, Granary Square. Here's a few pictures.

Filming at Tinseltown

I really enjoyed this shoot especially because I got to have a cheeky meal. Bet your jealous! This shoot went really well. We were filming Joez narrative where he is at tinsel town with his new girlfriend. Watch out for this scene in the music video it is an exclusive. I filmed that day and I believe I got some good shots and angles and I'm sure my group would agree. It was nice to film since I was the artist and I didn't need to film any of my bits that day.

Tackling editing

Taking on editing was a real pain. Just getting the shots together was really stressful but as time passed by and the more editing there was. I felt like a natural. I really and truly have to credit Joseph because he was the one who was working the magic. We were able to put the base tracks and here displayed we were adding slow motions. I developed my skills in using premiere pro in further depth and I really enjoy it. I'm even thinking to get my own MacBook and continue this skill I have learnt.

EDITING/ ROUGH - CUT FEEDBACK

While we were editing yesterday 26/11/15, we asked our media teacher Marisa to see what we have done so fa. the feedback we got was the its going on really well just that our nights and day scenes should be separate so for example start with all the day scenes and let it flow through the song till the night scenes to add structure to our music video. So today 27/11/15, we are currently going through all our footage and selecting all the day scene and contemplating if we should reshoot more tomorrow morning (28/11/15).

Rough Cut feedback

Positive points from the feedback:

- Audience enjoyed the fact that we introduced the artists at the beginning, they found that it was quite effective.

- They also liked our use of locations and the range of shots that we have, for example specifically with the graffiti in South Bank and the sky scrapers in Canary Wharf. They also found that it fit very well in our genre and matched with similar products.

-they found that the costume and wardrobe that we chose, went well with the music and therefore works well with the genre.

Points that need to be improved:

- at many points in the rough cut, Josephs head is cut out of the shot and wasn't in the frame, to improve this we have already re shot some of the scenes and have corrected the problem

- the audience saw that we did end up producing shakey footage, which doesn't look appealing and isn't part of any of the codes and conventions of the genre, and therefor doesn't need to be incorporated.
to improve, we have decided to only use footage in the establishing parts of the video that is completely steady and looks more clear.

- they felt some of the artists establishing shots didn't work very well with the actual video and it wasn't smooth, to improve we have decided to follow the suggestion of moving that completely to the end and then beginning the lyrics.

Filming session 21/11/15

On Saturday we re- shot  the base track in Canary Wharf because their was problem with the framing. But we got it sorted when we filmed on Saturday making sure the camera wasn't too close to the artists face. Our costume changed because of the weather conditions ( a picture of the costumes below). The re-shooting will be our last filming session and we will now be concentrating on our editing and putting this project together !

Photos of the costume change:

DELETING SCENES

We have decided that we would not be reshooting the Millennium Bridge scene anymore and will would not be using it in the music video due to finding better locations for that scene.

NEW COSTUMES ADDED (AGAIN!)

Here's a slideshow of the new costumes added for our new locations we added

Filming Today - 20/11/15

Today we filmed in Carnaby street but in a side road called 'Marlbourough Court' and we also filmed in regents park. We had to film in two different locations because we needed to add more base tracks to our music video to shorten down scenes. Today was very productive because we doing cameo's of our artists doing their own verses separate in different location, then together in one location which was really good !
We watched over the footage and we would not be re-shooting this scene.

Our costume today was a new addition to the costumes due to this location and filming being last minute.

Heres a slideshow of Today !

Evidence of filming - Monday 16/11/15

On Monday we filmed, one narrative scene and a base track in the evening. While editing we that we would need to re-shoot this scene because our artists 'MELZ X JOEZ' heads were being cut off so we had an issue with the framing.

Heres a lil slideshow of us filming on Monday:

Instagram Posts

We are trying to ensure that the PR and social media campaigns are just like a real product. We got to promote our artists and portray their activities to the fans therefore they will feel like they have a connection. We are trying to have an interactive audience.
Also shout out Tito who came to be our video, look at her in that picture, working the camera.

Feedback

This is a presentation of constructive feedback that me and my group take on board.

What went well - Wednesday Filming part 2

Filming in Southbank in a graffiti tunnel broke away from our normal riverside, city design and suave look. This was good because it showed another side of the artists 'MELZ X JOEZ'. This was a productive day because we done the full base track very effectively and quickly for the first time LOL! But it was a good time filming

Our costumes today broke away from the 'suaveness' because we felt that it would be nice to see an other side of the artist the 'grime' genre coming out at the end of the video. so we kept it cool with all black (Black jacket, black t-shirts and black jeans)

Also Thank You Rhiana Letts ( group ) on suggesting this location :)

Here is a picture of the location:

What Went Well - Monday Filming

On Monday we filmed twice, once in the mid afternoon and once in the evening. we filmed in the park opposite Saddlers well theatre were we done Joez's narrative scene, it was a really productive day because we got different shots and angles so when editing it would look awesome !

Secondly, we filmed in Canary Wharf. Filming in Canary Wharf was the best to be honest just because of the location and the building and how it looks especially in the evening. Also filming in Canary Wharf was productive because we got two base track sorted in two different locations and we enjoyed ourselves. The new costumes added went to plan.
here's a picture of us and (Joez in a Blue denim shirt and Melz in a white shirt, both wearing the classic glasses you mostly see during the video)

Addition to costumes !

Since we have added more locations to our scenes we have decided to add more costumes to where in that specific location when filming. Heres a slide of the new costumes picked

PHOTOSHOOT SETTINGS

Today we done a photoshoot for 'MELZ X JOEZ' it went well we had loads of different shots. Some snaps of today

ADDING OF LOCATIONS

I (Joseph ) went location hunting last week Friday and saw some amazing areas in Canary Wharf near the Station and also a Tunnel in Southbank which is full of graffiti (A picture of the specific location not available yet),  so as a group we've decided to add the location to one of our scene to make a base track

What went well Day 3

DAY 3 WAS THE BEST DAY !!!

The weather was perfect lighting was perfect, we had to postpone day 2 filming to reshoot on day3 because of the weather. We completed a whole base track for our music video, we may go back to re shoot some couple scene just add some more shots and some camera movement. but day 3 of filming was the best. The costumes had us looking suave how we wanted to! still following our synergy monochrome. We are still scheduling when next we can film!
The costume we used we followed our synergy and the pitch, with our black roll up jumpers and black ripped jeans.  Here's a flipgram:

What went well Filming day 2

Basically ...... BRITISH WEATHER HAPPENED !!! So we didn't get to film because when we arrived at our location the weather was fine, during the time of us setting up wet showers started to happen and it was too much for us to film in the rain, so we planned we would reshoot the whole scene which was meant to happen on day 3. Again, the costume went well as planned.

What went well - Day 1 filming

On our first day of filming, we decided to film our last scene which is at the location of 'Tinsel Town'. we decided to film this first, because it was very easy scene to film.We kept the camera work to a minimal, because this scene will be in a spilt screen and it won't bee too long. But if we have changed our minds and want to tweak some of ideas we will just add more shots to this scene.

The costume we planned went well, it was according to our synergy which is Monochrome.

Below is a flipgram:

FILMING

Heres a video of us filming during half-term, our filming hasn't finished just yet we still got loads to do ! But heres a video below check it out.
