Last day of filming Re-shoot
After we had our teachers watch our 3 or fourth rough cut, they said we needed structure for our music video, so we had to re-shoot scenes in Granary Square to add more structure and more footage. That day was very productive because we got numerous of angles, panning, tracking and movement, also different locations within the same area.
Edit sesh 1
Edit Session one included going through the footage and deciding which scenes and shots were good to use and which ones had to be deleted.
We decided on the footage that had the best lighting to ensure that lighting was consistent through out the entire video when it came to final production.
also we looked very closely at the steadiness of the footage and made sure that it was not too out of focus and made sure that it wasn't shaken too much.
we allocated and deleted the footage that we didn't need.
EDITING SESSION 5
although we only had a few words to extrapolate, finding a sharp and clear cut was really difficult for us, and it meant having to go in and trying to get a clear cut of the sound exactly where it wouldn't sound bad or put off the rest of the lyrics and the lip synch.
After being shown how to dub on the software by the technician, we all used head phones to work out the best way to get the song to sound good after we manipulated it.

RESEARCH INTO SIMILAR ANCILLARY PRODUCTS (WEBSITE)
When initially searching for the artists, there is no actual link to their site as soon as google loads up, to find the website further research is necessary, this is also suggestive on the type of artists that they are, and the promotional tools that they use as seen they have a dominant use of social media rather then having a website for the audience to be connected with, this also shows that they are more active with their social media then with the website, this might be because it is more convenient for the artists, but also because it is where they get most of their audience attention and where the audience actually is.
Ancillary Work

The central image of this album cover are various diamonds layered out in scattered fashion. There is no font on the front of the album cover just the image of diamonds. the only text seen on the cover 'Parental advisory'. However on the back there is roughly 90% text and 10% image as Drake and Future feels as though the track listing that is the most important information the audience should be acknowledging. This is because they want us to pay considerable attention the names of the tracks. Each of their own synergy (Drake's OVO Owl and Freebandz Eagle) are included on the back cover of the album. The genre of the song or the rappers aren't linked to our artists as their music is totally different to ours, however the style of American rapping is similar so I thought this was suitable for me to look at Drake and Future's digipak for inspirational ideas.
Justin Bieber use the same colours 'Black, Gold and White' running throughout the whole package of his digipak. He is the central image of the album and also provides another picture of himself at the back as a technique to entice the young hard core fans as he already his looks can make them go crazy.
I really like that technique however as he is a pop singer it wouldn't fit the convetions if I was going to include that idea on my final digipak that I will submit as my target audience are older teenage boys and I doubt they'll want to several images of the artists.
Task 48 (ANALYSIS INTO SIMILAR PRODUCTS)
Central images are of Krept and Konan (K+K) looking onto a long road with a burning car, suggestive of the album name "The Long Way Home". Also brings images of a struggle, and might be indicative of the amount of time that it took them to get to the level of fame that they are at currently, such as being signed by Virgin EMI records.
The positioning of the artists is also significant to their names, Krept appears on the left and Konan on the right, similar to the way that their names are written and said. The choice of font used is a handwritten serif, in a dark red, this connotes the artists wanting to be a lot more organic, and relative to their audience, rather then being "perfect".
This type of text also goes with the type of painted image that is behind the text, there is a lot more image then there is text, this might suggest the importance of image to the audience and the type of branding that they wish to promote.
This might also be because a long time before they were signed, K+K used their faces as the most prominent form of branding and wish to to continue reaching out to that audience.
The back of the CD cover shows the list of songs that are part of the album. the text is a lot more formal capitals and is centred, going down in order of the amount of letters, tiered to almost form an arrow that points the audiences attention towards the road that leads us back to the title of the album, but also the recording label, which again is indicative of the struggle towards getting signed. The featured artists names are in a different colour to the song which suggests that although they are part of the song they are separate and independent from K+K
Summaryof a digipak
In lesson we discussed about Digipak's and Artists Homepages. A digipack usually has a close up of the artist at the front of the digipak to have a personal feeling for example Rhianna's Loud and Adele 25. Rhianna's Loud digipak followed her synergy of roses through out the album cover. It also had the corporate details and the tracklist.
We had a look at Adele's and Krept Konan website homepage. Adele's one was very updated, she kept it informal so it portrays a personal feel with out constructing a false persona. the homepage was very clean, had the latest topic at the top of the homepage and when scrolling down the second etc. She also had links of where to buy her album from, videos and music , also her social networks.
Krept and Konan website homepage was very simple, they had their album cover as the background which kept it very organised and simple. They also did a type of line symmetry for the artist individual social networks, then also had little icons for their spotify, youtube and facebook.

summary of class discussion
In class we discussed different types of digipaks + websites. here are the following points that we discussed:
- the content of the images, for example Rihannas "Loud" album cover where there was a large image of her, and the rest of the synergy was made up of roses that was posted on the CD and part of the 3 section spread. This was significant to the image that she is producing for her self.
- we also noticed the size of the text that detailed the songs that were in the CD. we suggested that the smaller text connoted the importance to the audience , and artist. Next to the titles was a long shot of her, which was much larger then the text, which suggests that she is more important then the music.

Summary of class discussion around the importance and function of digipaks to music industry.
In lesson we looked at two digipaks from Rihanna's album cover "Loud', Adele's '25' album cover and Lady Gaga 'Fame the Monster' and how they displayed their artists for them to be branded. As we discussed the use of digipaks we learnt that there's a huge importance of using a digipaks because it promotes the artists and also gives them an image. For example Rihanna's album cover 'Loud'
Here we can see that Roses are used as part of her synergy, which is evident in the background of her digipaks and also shown on the two CD's that is provided within the album cover.
We also looked at the Adele's website, where we're able to see her tour dates, behind the scenes clip (Putting on make-up) before performing a little live performance (song from her latest album cover). She even provided us with

Summary of Digipak
Digigpaks are a great way to market the artist/s and a physical interaction with the audience. Digipaks have specific features they will highlight to portray the artist. They normally contain a 2 CD's as most commonly found and show a tracklist.
Some of the digipaks I have analysed are Rihanna and Krept & Konan. First of all both artists are in different genres, Rihanna who is mainly Hip-hop and pop while Krept & Konan are Uk rap and hip-hop. This is higlighted in their digipak as they will have different target audience.
For example here is Rihanna's digipak:
Here as we can see for the front cover of the digipak there is close up of the artist. This gives a notion to the audience who she is and reinforce the fact that the digipak is all about her. The font is very simple but sophisticated. The use of synergy has been used successfully, we can see the colour red is a feature which is omnipresent throughout the digipak. She also has a display of roses onto the CD.

Progress Review
How successful do you think your blog details the research, planning and construction stages of your music video?
i think the research section of our music video is top notch as i have done thorough research looking in different types of artists and their fan base. this has set me up to having a creative mindset of how me and my group constructed our artists 'Melz' and 'Joez'
Planning is great because our finished looks exactly how we want it to be suggesting we take a lot of time and effort to visualise how the music video is going to produced and how it will be percieved from the audience which i'm proud to say that we played terrificly. Thus we finished the music video in no time at all.
The production/construction of our music video is brilliant because we worked effienciently with the time and managed to finish constructing our music video well before the deadline which is amazing.
My individual blogging right now is 68 which i'm pretty happy about, this is becuase i'm to produced 100 quality blogs by the time my coursework is due therefore I plan on doing daily blogs.

Outline of improvements needed before deadline
We showed Louisa and Marisa (my media teachers) the footage of our latest music video. They suggested that we should improve on:
The structure of our video; they said it was evident that we just put the all the clips on adobe premier and just cut it whenever we heard the beat. Whereas we should of structured with day scenes first and then add the night scenes afterwards which actually makes it visually better so we are appreciative that our teachers told us that comments. Thanks.
What me and my group are going to do before the final deadline:
For the first intro we're going to show establishing shots (day ones) in the beginning. As well as use cameos that are in the day aswell.
We decided to use day scenes until the flicker is heard where on the last beat on the flicker, we will then transition to the night scene.

Rough Cut !
Here is our rough cut of 'Melz X Joez - What Do You Want From Me from their Upcoming album !
Filming reflection (Canary Wharf)
We decided to film in canary wharf because the estate had put up christmas lights and location had begun to look quite appealing. however we found out that we didn't actually have permission to film in between the buildings. so we had to find somewhere quite and not get any company names in the footage.
After we reviewed our footage we found that there was very little movement and the camera was very shaken. To improve this we need to make shots that had a lot more speed in the tracking and had better framing. From our last filming session we needed to improve the lighting, so we used the Top Light on the camera, mainly because the light was white and was easier to focus on the artists.
The audience and marketing campaign is centred around the audience being able to relate and be close to the artists, so we used a range of medium and close up shots to produce this relationship between artist and audience.
I filmed this because we were alternating in turns when it came to filming, directing, and sound management. I tired to incorporate all types of movement walking back and forward to make the end product interesting. although it was cold I tried my hardest to make sure that the camera was focused and was steady.
As we were location hunting we stumbled onto a building that was lit up with blue lights, we thought that this was a perfect back drop and the area was well lit. Also we had a lot more ground to film on so we were able to move around more without going against the risk assessment criteria.

Filming (Millennium Bridge)
During this filming session, mel and Joseph performed the song underneath the bridge. This was mainly because we were all afraid of heights and we didn't want to sacrifice anything like damaging the camera or other people on the bridge as it was also quite busy.
Curtis was in charge of the filming, and I (Bilal) did lighting and Music. My job was to manage the sound and placement of the music so the camera and performers were able to pick up the music.
Overall I performed this task quite well and was efficient with the music, to improve I would put the lighting in a more useful position, because after we reviewed the footage we found that there was parts of it where Mel wasn't visible in the shot because of the lack of lighting, and other parts where there was too much glear in the glasses prop.
These are my targets for the next filming session
